Doom Patrol (2019 – 2023)

Doom Patrol lo demuestra desde el primer capítulo, con una mezcla de locura, ternura, humor negro y personajes que, lejos de ser perfectos, están rotos por dentro… y por eso mismo resultan tan cercanos. La serie es un cóctel impredecible: lo mismo te lanza una escena absurda que te deja pensando sobre la soledad, el trauma o la identidad. Puede que no todo encaje a la perfección, pero esa falta de orden es también parte de su encanto. No busca agradar a todos ni seguir una fórmula, y eso se agradece en un panorama saturado de producciones clónicas. Cada uno de los protagonistas tiene su propio viaje emocional, y aunque a veces la trama se disperse o se vuelva un poco excesiva, la conexión entre ellos acaba siendo el verdadero corazón de la historia. No es fácil encontrar una serie donde un robot malhablado o una chica dividida en múltiples personalidades te hagan llorar, pero aquí pasa. Visualmente, juega con una estética a ratos retro, a ratos psicodélica, y aunque algunos efectos chirrían, todo encaja dentro del tono excéntrico de la serie. Lo importante no es que se vea “pulido”, sino que se sienta sincero. Y Doom Patrol, dentro de su rareza, lo es. Puede que no sea para todo el mundo. Es caótica, impredecible, a veces dispersa. Pero también es diferente, honesta y muy divertida. Y cuando consigue que conectes con sus personajes, es casi imposible no querer acompañarlos hasta el final. Doom Patrol proves that from the very first episode, with a mix of madness, tenderness, dark humor, and characters who, far from being perfect, are broken inside—and that’s exactly what makes them feel so real. The series is an unpredictable cocktail: one moment it throws in an absurd scene, and the next it makes you reflect on loneliness, trauma, or identity. Not everything fits together perfectly, but that lack of order is part of its charm. It doesn’t try to please everyone or follow a set formula, and in a sea of cookie-cutter productions, that’s refreshing. Each of the main characters is on their own emotional journey, and while the story can sometimes feel scattered or a bit over the top, the bond between them ends up being the true heart of it all. It’s not easy to find a show where a foul-mouthed robot or a girl with dozens of personalities can bring you to tears—but this one pulls it off. Visually, it shifts between retro and psychedelic vibes, and even if some of the effects are a bit rough, they fit perfectly within the show’s eccentric tone. What matters isn’t how polished it looks, but how sincere it feels. And Doom Patrol, in all its weirdness, feels incredibly genuine. It won’t be for everyone. It’s chaotic, unpredictable, sometimes messy. But it’s also different, honest, and seriously fun. And once it hooks you, it’s almost impossible not to stick around to see where these characters end up.
