Was there ever a newspaper called the "Los Angeles Argus"? Well that's the opening banner headline that tells us what this film is about - a series of bank robberies in California. Conrad Nagel is despatched by the US Justice Department to get to the bottom of it, and with Eleanor Hunt sets about doing just that. The rest of the cast are OK (Vince Barnett is quite annoying as a 1930s equivalent of a paparazzo) and this has pace and some (tame) humour as the investigation progresses and they discover the truth is a little too close for comfort! There is also a quaint scene at Los Angeles Airport when it was no bigger than an aerodrome.
